I am an experience designer. My job is to make people’s lives easier. I talk to users, build prototypes and test products. Most of my work and focus has been on-screen, but I love exploring how UX continues to make it’s way into the physical world. My design philosophy reflects this. I base my designs on the interactions people have in the physical world along with accepted design standards.
I was working as a survival swimming instructor in Saudi Arabia when I learned about user experience design. A blogger, Karen Cheng, wrote about how she taught herself UX and became a designer at a small startup. She mentioned that although she had to struggle to learn on her own, a bootcamp course had emerged that was dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of user experience design. I took a couple of short courses at Designlab then enrolled in their bootcamp before landing my first design job. A year into working at Tyler Technologies, I enrolled at Bentley University’s Human Factors in Information Design masters program. I completed my Masters Degree in 2024 but I’m always looking for ways to level up my design skill.
I landed my first job at Tyler Technologies soon after finishing up at Designlab in 2016. A few years later I got recruited to join the design team at UNUM insurance group and a couple of years after that I joined the design team at Intralinks SS&C, a fintech firm based in New York City. I don’t like to stay idle though and have completed a number of freelance and independent projects that I’m able to display in my portfolio.
